Call Center Operator

Department:  Campus Safety

Supervisor:  Dustin Vargo


Job Summary:

The Call Center Operator is primarily responsible for operating the college’s switchboard while assisting with front office reception duties for the Campus Safety Department.  This position will fill in for the full-time Operator during their daily lunch hour.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Front office reception duties for Campus Safety Department
  • Operate the college switchboard
    • Answer all calls made to the college switchboard with professionalism and friendliness
    • Direct callers to the appropriate offices
  • Other duties as assigned


To be selected to work as a Call Center Operator, a student must demonstrate:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A cooperative, friendly, and helpful attitude
  • Ability to multi-task and handle requests coming from various sources
  • Focus on customer service
  • Professional appearance and communication
  • Confidentiality and trust with sensitive and privileged information and access
  • Good familiarity with the campus
  • Strong phone skills
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks accurately and efficiently
  • Availability Monday-Friday for a 90 minute mid-day shift

  • Reliable, prompt attendance for scheduled work hours
  • Provide a high quality of customer service to callers and office guests
  • Maintain professional demeanor at all times
  • May be subject to on-call hours as needed to cover for full-time operator.
