BJK Intern

Reports to the Associate Pastor
Also accountable to the Session through the Personnel Committee
Independent Contractor, hourly (up to 12 hours/week)

PURPOSE:         To build bridges of faith among the congregation through ensuring that programs for children and youth are well-resourced and volunteers receive timely communication.

RELATIONSHIPS:

·         To work closely with the Associate Pastor to offer administrative support for the various children and youth programs.

·         To work alongside volunteers to understand what they need for program leadership.

·         To partner with the Office Manager to provide administrative leadership.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

Program Assistance – 60%

·         In consultation with the Associate Pastor, develop and maintain a calendar of programs and events for children and youth.

·         Translate the Sunday morning curriculum language into easily communicated paragraphs for distribution to the congregation (e.g., summaries and questions for families to discuss)

·         Ensure classrooms are ready for Sunday mornings by setting up materials and spaces for our programs.

·         Supply volunteers with curriculum prepared by the Associate Pastor at least one week ahead of time.

Administration – 40%

·         Keep a monthly timesheet indicating time worked, a description of projects or tasks worked on, and a total number of hours (to the nearest quarter-hour interval), to be turned in to the Office Manager at the end of each month.

·         Meet regularly with the Associate Pastor to ensure alignment of priorities and projects.

·         Regularly enter into our church database attendance data, volunteer information, calendar events, sign-up forms, and other information as necessary.

·         Develop and distribute registration forms designed to update family information and maintain lines of communication with families.

·         Send out information about background checks and maintain a list of who has completed background checks and who needs to renew their background checks.

·         Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Pastor.
