We are currently seeking part-time caregivers in the Elkhart and surrounding areas.
We are an honorable and respected non-medical home care agency, reliably assisting seniors and disabled adults to remain safely and successfully at home. We FAITHFULLY cover our Client’s shifts each week. We provide joyful, positive, Client-focused companionship, and take joy in our opportunities to care for others.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
Maintain absolute confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients.
Demonstrate respect for clients, their families, office staff, and other colleagues.
Communicate effectively with all team members.
Understand that regular, consistent attendance is necessary to serve clients.
Accept and fulfill assignments with Visiting Angels
Exercise judgment in accepting assignments and dependably follow-through on completing them.
Demonstrate capability and dependability in following instructions.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the management team.
Maintain honest and accurate records of performed services.
Refrain from sharing personal information with clients or families.
Exhibit positive attitude and helpful behavior.
Provide companionship and socialization.
Engage in respectful social interaction with client, including friendly conversation and empathic support, while respecting client’s privacy and property.
Assist the client with personal communication skills, as needed.
Assist with meal planning, preparation, and cleanup of meal-related items.
Assist the client with medication reminders or self-administration of their medications.
Assist the client with appointment reminders.
Perform or assist light housekeeping tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning bathrooms & kitchens, etc.
Perform or assist with laundering, folding, changing, or storing of client’s bed linens & towels.
Washing, drying, folding, ironing, and storing of client’s clothing.
Running errands and accurate record-keeping for such activities
Accompanying clients to appointments, as needed and approved by the care plan.
Assist with incidental transportation needs in accordance with the plan of care
Assist client with personal care including: bathing, toileting, skin care, hair care, nail care, dressing and undressing, meals, oral hygiene, shaving, grooming and bedtime preparation.
Assist client with exercise, ambulation and transfer activities.
Participate in required in-service training programs to meet regulatory requirements.
Conduct safety precautions including wiping wet floors and spills and eliminating other potential hazards immediately. Report safety hazards such as frayed electrical cords, unsecured handrails, malfunctioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors/alarms, defective equipment and/or or environmental hazards to supervisor on the same day of observation.
Be aware of proper body mechanics when on the job.
Understand, perform and adhere to the information and precautions contained in the client Home Plan of Care.
Maintain Universal Precautions.
Maintain proper mask-wearing, when directed or as conditions dictate.
Immediately report changes in client condition to manager or supervisor.
Report all client and employee incidents/accidents to supervisor immediately.
Understand the importance of seeking assistance, as needed, from supervisor and/or others.
REQUIRED JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license
Demonstrate sympathetic and positive attitude while caring for others.
Previous experience in private duty home care preferred.
Ability to regularly and predictably report to multiple locations on a daily basis.
Ability to listen and communicate clearly, fluently, and diplomatically – both orally and in writing.
Ability to remain flexible, resilient, calm and maintain a sense of humor in all situations.
Present a well-groomed image that reflects the professional image of the business.
Ability to generate goodwill for the Agency with clients, their family members and other referral source
